Advent is what we call the season leading up to Christmas.
The word literally means “the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event.” Advent is a time of preparation, celebrated each year during the weeks leading up to December 25. It's a time during which we anticipate the fulfillment of God's promise that he would provide a way for us to come back to him: Jesus. The King of Kings, born in utter poverty. Fully God, in the humble flesh of a man.
Nearly 700 years before His birth, God the Father revealed to us the name of this coming Messiah through the prophet Isaiah, and in so doing revealed to us just who this Jesus really is to us and for us.
This Advent, come and encounter this Jesus who is truly the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.
