Advent is what we call the season leading up to Christmas. The word literally means “the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event.” This is a time of preparation, celebrated each year during the weeks leading up to December 25. It's a time during which the people of God anticipate the fulfillment of his promise: that he would provide a way for us to come back to him. That he would send his son into the world. Jesus—the King of Kings, born in utter poverty. Fully God, in the humble flesh of a man.
